Dementia Adviser

Amy Murphy is the dementia adviser for North Cork. Amy will work with people with dementia and their families to provide individualised information, signposting to services and support.

Day Care

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland day care centres provides specialist care to meet the needs of people with a warm welcoming and safe environment. The centres provide care and stimulation for the person with dementia and a break for family caregivers.

  • Conna Day Centre – Dementia specific on Wednesdays
  • St Frances Centre, Fermoy – Dementia specific on Tuesdays
  • St Marys, Mallow – Dementia specific, Monday to Friday

Home care

The Home Care service assigns a trained dementia care worker to a client’s home for a designated number of hours per week. This service offers care, support and activities to the person with dementia and access to practical information, support and a break for family caregivers.

Respite

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland and the HSE provide dementia specific respite in two nursing homes in North Cork (Padre Pio Nursing Home, Churchtown, Bridhaven Nursing Home, Mallow)

Usually respite is allocated for a fortnight.
